Manjula is employed thanks to Remploy

A WOMAN from Oldham, who has not been able to work for the past decade because of a chronic health condition, is back in a job thanks to the specialist employment services of Remploy.
Having endured several operations, Manjula Patel’s goal throughout was to return to work.
Remploy is the UK’s leading provider of services for people who experience barriers to employment, and with their support, Manjula realised her ambition.
The 43-year-old now works for cleaning specialists Masterclean, the company contracted to social housing provider Contour Housing.
Her role is to clean Contour’s offices and drop-in centre in Limeside.
According to Contour’s deputy area manager Paul Charnock, it’s a job in which she excels.
Manjula found help at Remploy’s specialist recruitment services branch in Union Street, Oldham which offered her the support she needed.
She said: “They helped me develop my employability skills such as learning new interview techniques, how to write a CV and the best way to apply for jobs.
“Equally as important, they boosted my confidence and helped me believe in myself.
“Then they introduced me to Masterclean, who were interested in my abilities rather than disabilities. My new job is helping me flourish, professionally and personally.”
Remploy’s specialist recruitment branch was opened formally last September, and has already secured mainstream jobs for almost 100 disabled people in markets as broad as retail, public and the service sector.
Last year, Remploy found jobs in mainstream employment for 6,500 people with disabilities and health conditions.
The company aims to increase that to 20,000 jobs each year by 2012.
