WINDSOR really works... Councillor Sykes, right, at the refurbished mill with Nick Wright
OLDHAM Council leader Councillor Howard Sykes has given the seal of approval to the Windsor Works mill project at Mumps.
He enjoyed a tour of the former two-storey mill building in Gravel Walks, hosted by Nick Wright whose Dalby Developments Ltd, business, based in Heywood, transformed the building, which now comprises 10 residential apartments and two floors of commercial office space.
On the commercial side, 75 per cent of the space is let.
The whole of the first floor is occupied by Web Applications UK, an internet business which has relocated from the Hollinwood Business Centre, while Domus Healthcare, Oldham, has taken part of the ground floor. Domus is a Leeds-based homecare business which took over Helpful Hands, the second largest provider of homecare in Oldham, employing more than 70 people to help with washing, eating, dressing, meal preparation and household chores.
The last remaining ground floor unit of 1,275 ft, with its own entrance, is being marketed by chartered surveyors Ryder and Dutton.
Councillor Sykes says: “The Windsor Works development is a fine example of partnership working between the council and a developer to bring about a sympathetic modernisation and refurbishment of a Victorian mill to high standard.
“The project has attracted high-value business investment and provided premium apartment living in near the town centre.”
