A FORMER Chadderton schoolboy has launched a range of traditional toffee treats from his company Happy Sweet Shop Ltd.

Simon Brooke (30), from Burnley, whose parents still live in Chadderton, established the online business www.happysweetshop.co.uk just 10 months ago. The company operates out of Lomeshaye Business Park, Nelson.

Despite setting up during the economic downturn, the business is growing from strength to strength.

The current most popular line are retro sweet hampers, full of sweets such as fizzers, fizz whiz, dip dabs, refreshers, fruit salad chews and black jacks.

Satisfying demand for those with a sweet tooth stretches from the North-West right across the world to Australia with online sales from Hungary as well.

Simon’s latest innovation is a range of retro sweets aimed at holiday travellers.

Hand selected Simon, the packages include classic happy car pack, fruity happy train pack and the minty happy plane pack.

Each features classic sweets such as fruit drops, pineapple chunks, spearmint chews and mintoes. Designed with the particular challenges of transport in mind there are no wrappers on the car sweets and plenty of suckable sweets for the plane to stop ears popping.

Says Simon: “There is nothing better than setting off on a long journey knowing you have your favourite sweets to tuck into on the way.

Happy Sweet Shop Ltd supported Asthma UK by donating 10 per cent of sales on chocolate limes and lime and soda drops to the charity .
