Excitement is growing among Oldham’s business community as the borough prepares to welcome Google to the Queen Elizabeth Hall for the New Routes to Business event on Monday, March 1.
Google is one of a number of big names at the event that Oldham’s Business Leadership Group has attracted to the borough to meet the business community.
And the internet search engine has offered £50 worth of free internet advertising to all attendees.
Dave Benstead, chairman of Oldham’s Economy and Enterprise Board and Business Leadership Group, and a director of global semiconductor manufacturer Diodes, based in Chadderton, is not a stranger to international collaboration.
He is keen to stress the business benefits to be reaped from trading overseas for a multitude of the borough’s businesses and worries that smaller companies, or non-manufacturers, may not realise the true relevance of this event.
Mr Benstead said: “This event will guide our companies through the whole export journey and bring some key wealth creators into the borough.
“Export Box partners, aware of Oldham’s entrepreneurial legacy, has chosen Oldham to host the inaugural New Routes to Business event.
“This is a new model which will be rolled out throughout the UK, open to all companies across Greater Manchester, providing an excellent networking opportunity for our business community and a platform to demonstrate Oldham’s innovative and dynamic business sectors.”
The event is booking up quickly. To reserve places email elaine.ashworth@oldham.gov.uk or call 0161- 770 1676.
