Success is suite for CSL

MORE than 1,000 suites a day were being sold by CSL — which has a store at the Centre Retail Park, Broadway, Royton — during the festive peak trading period.
Such was the demand for furniture, the Wigan-based retailer has reported a 51 per cent increase in total sales for the year to December 31, with turnover reaching a record £72.5 million, up from £48 million in 2008.
The family-owned company, which operates 16 stores across the North of England, said a strong Christmas trading period had contributed to its record sales, with like-for-likes for the four weeks to January 3 jumping 61 per cent.
During Boxing Day week — traditionally the sector’s peak trading period — the retailer recorded more than 1,000 suite sales on some of the busiest days, fuelled by the launch of its 72-hour delivery promotion.
Managing director Jason Tyldesley said: “Our customers are looking for high quality, contemporary products and a more sophisticated retail experience, with knowledgeable staff, a slick, technology-led ordering process and quick, hassle-free delivery. This has always been the philosophy behind CSL and people are backing our brand.”
CSL, established by the Tyldesley family as a single store near Burnley in 1984, is planning to open several new stores in the coming year.
“Comfort is king, with a growing trend for larger sofas and softer fabrics,” concluded Mr Tyldesley
