OLDHAM construction companies are joining forces to help conquer the effects of the recession.
Through a series of networking and information events, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Construction Industry Solutions, along with Oldham Council, are bringing together all the constituent parts of the construction sector.
The plan is to explore the possibilities of joint ventures, inform them of the construction opportunities available in Oldham and help companies understand how the tendering process works.
The aim is to ensure that companies based within Oldham will benefit from construction opportunities and tenders for regeneration projects within the Oldham borough. The latest Oldham Construction Event, chaired by Peter Greenhalgh, from DCT Civil Engineering Ltd, Shaw, was attended by more than 140 individuals and representatives from the construction industry.
The main topic was the PFI Gateways-to-Oldham project, a £100 million housing redevelopment and refurbishment scheme.
Led by Rok plc, the presentation highlighted a variety of subcontracting tendering packages available to Oldham businesses.
The next meeting is at the Bower Hotel on Wednesday May 5.
