JUDGING is complete and now everyone is awaiting for the big night at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Monday when the second One Oldham Business Awards will be presented.

Ninety eight nominations, from more than 70 businesses, have been whittled down to just 30 finalists in marathon sessions by ten sets of judges.

Each judging panel is independent of the others and the judges themselves — sponsors, relationship managers from title sponsors NatWest Business and Commercial Banking and members of the awards’ steering group — will be as keen as the 400 plus guests to hear who has captured the awards.

The winners will be revealed when the chair of each three-person panel — a representative from the award sponsor — opens the gold envelope.

Prior to the announcement, each finalist will receive a framed copy of a front-page of the Oldham Evening Chronicle containing a story about their entry.

There will also be a short DVD presentation about each finalist on a giant screen.

Following on from last year’s inaugural awards, a gala night of entertainment has been organised including a champagne and canapes reception during which the Failsworth Community Band, led by conductor Nick Sheppard, will entertain.

There will be entertainment throughout the evening - including some surprises to keep the 400 business leaders and their guests on their toes.

In addition to the ten category awards — two more than last year — there is presentation from University Campus Oldham, part of the University of Huddersfield, to the first-ever recipient of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership award.
