Construction companies found out about the opportunities to get work from Oldham’s £130 million housing project at a special seminar in Chadderton.
The focus was the Private Finance Initiative Gateways to Oldham project — a £130 million housing redevelopment and refurbishment programme — and the business opportunities it provides.
The main contractors, Rok Building, provided a brief overview and the sub-contract opportunities for Oldham-based construction businesses.
The event at the Bower Hotel was organised by the Oldham Construction Sector Group, which aims to make sure local businesses are able to benefit from the regeneration of the borough.
The group is run by the private sector for the private sector, supported by Oldham Council and Greater Manchester Chamber.
It aims to help Oldham fight off the credit crunch.
It attracted 130 businesses to the latest meeting, and interested companies could be invited to tender for the Oldham Gateway packages.
OCSG’s next networking meeting is on May 5 at the Bower Hotel, Hollinwood Avenue.
The focus will be on the Academies Project, putting local firms in contact with main contractors and identifying the opportunities available to them.
