TIM Hopley, head of crime at Oldham law practice Gruber Garratt, has qualified for Higher Rights of Audience.

This will enable Mr Hopley, (43), from Haslingden, to speak in the Crown Court alongside barristers. He has been with the Gruber Garratt for 12 years.

Mr Hopley who has many years of experience in the magistrates’ court, first as a court clerk then as a solicitor, is believed to be one of only a few in the Oldham area with such a qualification.

“This will no doubt strengthen the work of Gruber Garratt as a whole and improve the range of services we can offer our clients,” said Mr Hopley, adding: “We are a local firm offering a quality and comprehensive service to clients with a strong history of commitment to Legal Aid.”

The firm which has maintained a presence in the town since 1982 is located in offices on King Street close to the magistrates’ court building.

The firm also has offices in Ashton, Stalybridge, Radcliffe and Worsley.
