Office swap is a hit with lawyers

TWO of the region’s most experienced family lawyers are doing an office-swap.
For one day each week, former BBC Radio Manchester legal eagle Jon Comyn-Platt will desert the Oldham town centre office of Platt Halpern to work with the Failsworth legal aid practice of Heath Sons and Broome.
Moving in the opposite direction will be Verity Ford, Heath Sons and Broome’s specialist in domestic abuse and family financial cases. Verity will spend at least one day each week working at the Union Street, Oldham, and Rusholme offices of Platt Halpern.
“It’s the legal equivalent of ‘Wife Swap’,” joked Oldham office practice manager David Wise, adding: “Verity and Jon were both working part-time when they realised they could help out each other’s office by exchanging their respective blends of expertise.
“Jon is a long-standing member of the Law Society’s Children Panel and has specialised in children’s cases for over 20 years. Verity is a Resolution-accredited specialist in financial provision and domestic abuse and has particular expertise in domestic violence cases.”
Verity added: “Starting as the new recruit, albeit for only one day each week, is a strange experience, especially when you’ve worked for so long at your own office.”
