BACK in Oldham . . . that’s hearing aid audiologist Stephen Grundy, and the Bolton man is delighted.
With his partner Jean Tyrer, formerly of Garden Suburbs but now also from Bolton, Stephen has set up Grundy’s Hearing Centre in Retiro Street.
The pair have invested £20,000 in the business venture which will aim to reconnect Stephen with many of the clients he had in two previous spells in the borough, one a privately-owned audio clinic and the other as part of a multinational-chain.
He said: “I always enjoyed working in Oldham, there is something about the place and when Jean and I decided to set up on our own it was either here or Bolton and I am delighted it’s Oldham.”
He has 16 years experience of the industry and is keen to re-establish contact with many of his former clients.
He added: “We have low overheads to this business so we intend to offer the same high standards of service and equipment as some of our larger competitors.
“There will not be any compromise on the technology, no cutting of corners, and that’s a promise.”
Jean, who will be the administration manager, also has extensive experience of the industry and is convinced that Oldham is ready for a new practice, saying: “I know how popular Stephen was when he last worked in Oldham and many people will be delighted he is back in town.”
