Business help offered at workshops
Date published: 16 July 2010
NEW businesses in Oldham are being invited to free skills workshops at the Earl Mill, Hathershaw.
They are for businesses in their first three years since start-up, and the first, on Monday, is a session on self-employment with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
That is followed on July 26 by a course on basic book keeping.
The events are being held by Blue Orchid business support agency and are free to anyone who has set up a new business in Oldham.
Managing director Heather Hayes said: “Being self-employed means that you rely on yourself to win business and also keep up with important actions such as self-assessment of tax, working out VAT and paying National Insurance.
“With the workshop being led by HMRC, people will gain the correct information for the organisation which oversees the issues.
“The book keeping basics workshop will give new business owners a greater understanding of how to manage their accounts.”
