Metrolink on the menu

THE expansion of Metrolink through Oldham will be discussed at a Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Oldham networking lunch on September 22.

There will be a presentation from the Metrolink team on the extension of the service through Union Street and business leaders will have the opportunity to raise issues and ask questions.

The event, hosted by Oldham Council of the Chamber of Commerce, takes place between noon and 2pm at The Talking Point, Huddersfield Road, Scouthead.

Chamber’s top man
Clive Memmott has been named the new chief executive of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

A qualified lawyer, he has held a variety of senior roles in the private and public sectors and moves to the Chamber from Robinson Keane, where he was a recruitment consultant.

Mr Memmott, who succeeds Angie Robinson, who has moved to MIDAS, the Manchester inward investment agency, has a background in marketing and manufacturing.

He is an Honorary Research Fellow of Lancaster University Management School and has co-authored a book on improving business performance titled Growing Your Own Heroes.

He has experience as a chief executive and managing director, as well as various non-executive board positions.

He takes up his role on Monday. Greater Manchester Chamber has 5,300 members, including several hundred in Oldham. This year’s Oldham Chamber dinner is on Friday October 15 at Clough Manor, Denshaw.
