A NEW breakfast networking group opened in Saddleworth on Friday.
Started by Martyn Hodgson, a social media marketing man from Marsden, he is hoping to persuade enough people to continue the fortnightly 4Networking venture.
Based on similar principles to other breakfast networking clubs, 4Networking has a couple of changes to the norm in that meetings are fortnightly at 8am, lasting for two hours.
My time there was enjoyable and relaxing — that isn’t to say that some of the others where I have spent time haven’t been equally enjoyable, but there was certainly a more laid-back atmosphere along with an air of jollity and serenity.
The inaugural event was hosted by Martyn, assisted by a couple of Australian guys, Martin Byrne and David Trees, who certainly brought a lively Antipodean flair to proceedings.
Talking Point, the Scouthead conference centre, is working with 4Networking to promote the group.
Sales manager Richard Lapping expressed his delight at what he called a “healthy attendance” at the opening.
4Networking already has a group which meets in Oldham — at the Whitegate Inn, Hollinwood Avenue, Chadderton — and this latest is a national chain of more than 400 breakfast clubs aimed solely at Saddleworth businesses.
“The difference between ourselves and other, similar groups, is that our members can attend any other 4Networking breakfasts,” said Martyn. “They aren’t restricted to their own group, and we encourage people from the same professions — we don’t exclude anyone.
“4Networking is the only organisation of its kind that allows members to attend any of almost 300 groups across the UK.
“Business people in Saddleworth can attend this new group as well as visiting Huddersfield, Oldham and Ashton attending as many as four breakfast meetings per week.
“4Networking is one of the biggest business breakfast networks in the UK. Having experienced great success with my own business and profile through just being a part of 4Networking, I felt Saddleworth would prove a fantastic opportunity to get other businesses connected.”
The next event is at Talking Point next Friday.
