GREENFIELD man Gavin Wheeldon has been nominated for a top award by the Institute of Directors (IoD).
Mr Wheeldon is the founder and chief executive officer of Applied Language Solutions, an international translation and interpretation business in Delph.
Following an intensive judging process, the North-West branch of the IoD has announced its finalists from the Lancashire region for the prestigious Director of the Year Awards 2010.
The finalists were narrowed down from 160 entries from across the region.
Mr Wheeldon is shortlisted alongside Chris Purslow, from ATG Willand, a Wigan-based manufacturer of ultraviolet disinfection and treatment systems, and Mark Greaves, from flooring specialist Flowcrete in Sandbach.
Darrel Matthews, regional director for the IoD in the North-West, said: “The judging panel was extremely impressed by the high number of outstanding directors who were nominated in 2010 following another difficult year for business, and I believe this list of nominees is a prime example of what Lancashire has to offer.”
This year’s winners will be announced on October 7 at the Hilton Hotel, in Manchester, at a ceremony hosted by BBC TV’s Nicholas Owen.
