NOMINATIONS for the third annual One Oldham Business Awards are streaming into the Chronicle offices with the closing deadline only three weeks away.

This annual extravaganza of all that is positive about the borough’s business community has truly caught the imagination.

The presentation dinner on Friday, March 18, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham, is already a 450-ticket sell out. The organising committee has reserved 60 tickets for the finalists in each of the 10 categories, plus a number for sale to the lucky shortlisted businesses.

“That’s the only way that people will get to the dinner,” said June Smith, Oldham Council’s principal business support officer.

A member of the steering group — dominated by the private sector — which runs the awards, June added: “I would advise any business or person thinking about entering to start work now on their entry.

“We have made the entry level as easy as possible with online nominations available at www.oldhambusinessawards.co.uk  and we can also supply printed forms for those who are not yet comfortable with technology.

“This is one of the top nights in Oldham and if you want to be at the event the best way is to make a nomination.”

Oldham Chronicle Editor David Whaley will refer to the success of the awards at a Chronicle networking event at the Taj Palace, King Street, Oldham, on Wednesday, February 2.

This event, once again sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group, will also feature the launch of the Chronicle’s Pride in Oldham awards, now in their 10th year.

To mark this special occasion, Pride will move to an evening event in the Queen Elizabeth Hall on December 9.

The Taj Palace event starts at 5.30pm and is expected to last until 7pm. Attendance is free, supper will be served but for catering purposes registration is required with Steve Duthie via email circulation@oldham-chronicle.co.uk  or call Steve on 0161-622 2159.
