MAHDLO, the multi-million-pound Oldham Youth Zone Project, will once again benefit from the generosity of guests at the third One Oldham Business Awards.
On the day the organisers called time on nominations for the 2011 prizes — the deadline is Friday — German airline Lufthansa has confirmed its on-going support for the awards and charitable organisations in Oldham, by once again backing the event.
The carrier is supplying two business-class tickets to any Lufthansa destination in Germany from Manchester Airport.
These will be the top prizes in a raffle at the gala presentation dinner in the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Friday, March 18, with all proceeds going to Mahdlo. Last year, more than £3,500 was raised.
Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in Royton will also benefit from the event thanks to the generosity of the business community, OMC Ford and Chadderton Auto Repairs.
The Manchester Road Ford and Kia dealership in Werneth is sponsoring a fun casino during the pre-dinner champagne and canapés reception. The winner will have the use of a Porsche Cayenne for a four-day weekend thanks to Roman Choudhry, from CAR.
With nominations pouring into the Chronicle via the website at www. oldhambusinessawards.co.uk and the offices in Union Street, the event is on target to beat last year’s record number.
Steve Duthie, the Chronicle’s circulation manager, who is also a member of the awards steering group, said; “There has been a surge of interest in the last few weeks as companies make sure their entries are received.
“There is still time to enter but the judges will begin their deliberations on Monday so this is the last chance.”
