Barber shop makeover is a cut above

AN iconic business in Hollinwood which had become a symbol of the current retail malaise has reopened after a makeover by Kris and Anna Flowers.
The little shop on the corner of Chapel Road and Hollins Road closed its doors three years ago and ceased trading as a children’s clothes store is now thriving once again as The traditional Barber Company.
Barber Kris saw potential in this little place and has undertaken a complete renovation project to breathe new life into the building.
Dating back to the 1800s, the building originally traded as a butcher’s shop and many of the old meat racks and hooks were still embedded deep into the brickwork.
Renovations began just after Christmas, Kris completing the majority of work himself alongside his father-in-law Keith Jowett.
“Where possible we used local suppliers and tradesmen to complete the remainder of the work,” he said.
Kris firmly believes that the community should support one another in these difficult times to help bring life back into the local areas.
