Sarah Gannon among the sweets at the popular The Sweetie Jar
IT’S YANKEE doodle candy at a sweet shop in Greenacres.
Sarah Gannon, owner of The Sweetie Jar, is bringing a scrumptious taste of America to meet the needs of sweet-tooth Oldhamers.
US favourites like Lucky Charm cereal, marshmallow fluff and the Baby Ruth chocolate bar are all available at the confectionery wonderland.
Sarah celebrates 12 months alongside Hill Stores in Dunkerley Street, appealing to all ages — but mainly adults — with her traditional shop.
The mother of three (30) who swapped a career in child care to open her treasure trove, said: “I get the most custom from adults, because it’s all about reminiscing when they come into the shop.
“We stock more than 400 different varieties of sweets here, some going back to the 1930s and it’s an old-fashioned sweet shop where the sweets are weighed and bagged.
“But I have introduced more American-style sweets, which are going down a treat.”
