Sitting on a great idea

A ROYTON entrepreneur is looking to make sitting down on the job his fortune.

Keith Whitworth has set up Safe T’sit — www.safesit.co.uk — a vending business which dispenses toilet-seat covers.

He already has two outlets in ladies’ restrooms in hotels in Manchester and is now looking to expand the service.

A security worker at Manchester Airport for the past seven years, Mr Whitworth, who is also a steward at Boundary Park for Oldham Athletic home games, is convinced there is a market for this sanitary aid.

He said: “They are easy to use and the design means they flush away without having to handle them once they have been fitted to a toilet.”

Mr Whitworth worked on the inspection team at Seddon Atkinson until the commercial vehicles assembly line in Royton was closed.

He has successfully negotiated the first hurdle towards installing some of his vending machines, which are wall-mounted, into the airport and is hoping to introduce the concept at outlets in Oldham.

He added: “I am the only supplier in Greater Manchester so there is huge potential.

“The product itself is hygienic, easy to use and at £1 for a pack of 10, very affordable.”
