AN Oldham construction company won a top award at the National Federation of Builders inaugural awards gala.
The achievements of eight national winners and nine highly commended finalists were celebrated at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, in front of an audience of more than 100 members and guests.
Emanuel Whittaker Ltd, of Rochdale Road, Royton, collected the award for the Corporate Social Responsibility Project of the Year 2011, sponsored by Westfield Health.
Adam Berry, lead resident liaison officer at the 175-year-old company, collected the Outstanding Individual Special Award.
The company was rewarded for its refurbishment of a sheltered housing scheme — Laurence Lowry Court, in Salford — which saw Adam going “more than the extra mile” to ensure that residents, their families and carers were comfortable during the works.
His dedication resulted in a programme of activities and support being put in place after he discovered what a lifeline such communal activities provided the residents.
