Millions of people and businesses have things they hardly ever use but don’t necessarily want to sell.
What if they could make money by simply hiring them out?
That idea has driven Oldham entrepreneur Steven Cardy to launch his latest venture — Hyastar.com.
The rental website gives people the chance to hire out their goods or services online in exchange for cash: carpet cleaners, tools, wedding dresses - anything anyone thinks others can use.
It is a simple but effective concept, says founder and managing director Stephen Cardy, from Chadderton.
He said: “We see this site as a great way for people to make that extra bit of cash.
The peer-to-peer hire market has been growing steadily but no one has cornered the sector, said the 37-year-old.
“Our variety of categories and full online payment means we are in a position to be that business.”
