Fresh new look for farmers’ market
Date published: 14 September 2012
YOUNG Hollinwood entrepreneur Charlotte Whittle has teamed up with Daisy Nook Garden Centre manager Richard Calder to set up a monthly farmers’ market on his land.
The driven 20 year old started her own business when she realised waitressing and bar work weren’t going to get her very far.
She received backing from her mother, set up a company - End of the Rainbow - and started baking cakes and selling them at farmers’ markets.
“A lot of people who follow me said they didn’t have markets near their home, so I set up a meeting with Richard and he agreed to run a monthly market,” she explained.
The first market earlier this month was a huge success, with many of the 20 stallholders selling out before the end of the day. The next one is expected to be even bigger
Markets will run on the first weekend of every month, Saturdays from 9am-5pm and Sundays 10am-4pm.
