GOING for growth: John Salt outside his Lees shop
AFTER 10 years of serving a mainly domestic customer base, a computer business in Lees is preparing to step into the commerical world.
Managing director John Salt, who established Megabyte Computer Services, hopes to grow his business and take on new staff.
Mr Salt (45) from Roundthorn, moved his PC and laptop repairs and servicing business to High Street, Lees, at the end of 2011.
“This represented a significant investment, but there is much more room for customers to meet staff and we have a much larger workshop,” he explained.
Mr Salt, who has spent 25 years in the computing and IT business, has built a loyal customer base from Oldham and Tameside.
Mr Salt and two full-time engineers offer advice to visitors believing they will return should they ever have problems with the equipment.
Megabyte is now moving into the tablet market, and Mr Salt is keen to find more commercial customers.
“There are businesses out there who may have only a few PCs, but they need support and I believe this is a market Megabyte can break into.
“I also have other plans to expand the business in the medium term, but for now we are concentrating on making the most of our new premises and looking after our loyal customers.”
