OLDHAM business AC Tyres has installed a Greenteam 8kWp Solar Photovoltaic Panel System on its Cross Street premises — helping reduce the pressure of rising electricity bills.
Directors Wayne Williams, from Springhead, and Mark Sullivan, of Stretford, moved to the 11,000 sq ft site in 2000 from where they supply tyres to commercial vehicles, industrial plants, family saloons and motorcycles.
The firm, established 32 years ago, employs 11 staff. AC Tyres started life on Manchester Road and moved briefly to Middleton before settling into the current site.
Wayne said: “Electricity bills are only going to increase year on year so installing the system was a no-brainer as far as we were concerned.” Mark added: “The PV system gives us free electricity during daylight hours, we get paid for the electricity we generate and the electricity we don’t use means we get paid again for selling it back to the National Grid. It’s a win-win situation that we could not afford to miss.”
