Pitt’s challenge to local lawyers

OLDHAM has more than 44 legal firms – most of which were represented at the recent Oldham Law Association annual dinner.

These firms should be working together to take on competition from Manchester, declared president Michael Pitt, a partner at the Hollinwood commercial team offices of Pearson Hinchliffe.

He was addressing more than 140 guests, including Desmond Hudson, the chief executive of the Law Society of England and Wales at the White Hart, Lydgate.

He revealed the association was in talks with sister organisations in Rochdale and Tameside to forge closer links.

Mr Pitt is keen for members to work together to provide a comprehensive service.

“We have to convince our clients and potential clients that we have the skills to deliver without the need to seek advice from Manchester and beyond” he declared.
