AN Oldham manufacturer with his own brand of clothing accessories is keen to expand — with a range made from sustainable materials such as bamboo.
Denshaw’s David Nkengmo, MD of Paloma Manufacturing UK, already makes a bamboo cloth vest for babies.
“I am also looking into manufacturing using hemp,” he said at his premises in the Acorn Centre, Barry Street, Derker.
Paloma is the manufacturing division of his business interests — TheShopOnlineLimited and Paloma Design Ltd.
The design division runs marketing for the wholesale Curly Tops brand, children’s accessories brand Minimoomoo and adult range Moomoo.
All the products — hats, mittens, scarves and snoods, blankets and vests — are made by his team of four.
Mr Nkengmo came to the UK from Cameroon 37 years ago and has lived in Oldham since 1981. He set up his business in 2007.
Paloma’s Minimoomoo brand is a big seller in Scotland — currently his biggest market — but he has yet to break through in England.
“I met some buyers and sourcers from some of the biggest high street names at an event at Worsley, and I have made some good contacts. I am hopeful of making progress.”
