CAREER change . . . Becky Nowell with some of her products at home in Lees
SOLICITOR Becky Nowell is giving up courts for cross stitch.
The 36-year-old mum of two has set up Maisie Lou Designs to sell a range of Oldham RLFC club merchandise.
The family-run Lees business, launched last November, is supported by Becky’s husband Matt — a lifelong Roughyeds’ supporter.
He said: “We felt a move like this would benefit both Oldham RLFC and Maisie Lou Designs.”
When her first daughter was born five years ago, Becky took a career break and began making personalised children’s gifts for friends, using bespoke embroidery.
She quickly realised there was a market for her products, so decided to leave her job as a senior crown prosecutor in Manchester to develop and expand her business in personalised gifts.
Becky, who has two daughters, Charlotte (5) and Harriet (3), said: “It was a daunting experience to leave behind the drama of the courtroom.”
