Local jobs for local people
Date published: 17 January 2014
OLDHAM Council is urging local businesses to do their bit to employ local people in 2014.
Local companies can find out how they can benefit from regeneration opportunities at a construction networking event at the E3 Business & Enterprise Hub, Earl Mill, Dowry Street, on January 22 (8-10am).
Builders Morgan Sindall will talk about the redevelopment of Oldham’s former town hall — the site of Oldham’s new cinema and entertainment complex. Bosses will speak about potential supply-chain opportunities.
Councillor Amanda Chadderton, Cabinet member for education, employment and skills, said: “It’s inspiring to see so many already supporting our vision of bringing 2,015 employment opportunities to the borough by next year.”
The authority is committed to boosting employment opportunities in the borough through its Get Oldham Working scheme — with around 500 jobs already created in its first eight months.
