DELIGHTED: Gavin Bell celebrates his third place with “Dragons’ Den” star Theo Paphitis, and Jan Hedges from the Edge Foundation
A FORMER Oldham College student has finished third in a national competition for entrepreneurship.
Gavin Bell (20), was on a shortlist of seven for the Edge Challenge prize of £3,000.
He pitched his detailed business proposal for a corporate fitness and well-being company to a panel in London.
After being presented with his £750 prize by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Gavin said: “I’m delighted to have won third prize. Getting involved in the Edge Challenge has really pushed my business on and the prize money will be a big helping hand in taking it even further.”
The challenge was launched last year by the Edge Foundation and aims to help young entrepreneurs nationwide get their business off the ground. Gavin moved from the Shetland Islands to the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at Oldham College.
