Paul’s bike shop fuses old and new

BRITAIN’S booming cycle scene and the desire for greater control over his working life have led an Oldham man to open a new bike shop
Paul Smith (45) has opened Cycle Tech on Ripponden Road, Oldham, and is a member of the national Cycle Tech UK umbrella group. Paul has also arranged retail agreements with several manufacturers and suppliers.
Mr Smith said: “I wanted a bit more control over my life. In the past, there were times when I was hardly at home. I once went four weeks without seeing my children.
“I set up a mobile cycle repair business last year which has done really well and wanted to develop things with a shop. The demand for repairs and service is huge.”
Mr Smith sells adults and children’s bikes by a various manufacturers and suppliers focusing on mountain, road and hybrid bikes.
