EUREKA! Regeneration bosses have hit on a top idea to turn young minds onto science, with possible plans to open some fun exhibition space at Oldham’s planned regional science centre.
Chief Superintendent Caroline Ball, from Oldham Police, suggested that part of the new centre, which is being created by Oldham Sixth Form college, could be given over to an educational science facility similar to Eureka, the popular children’s science museum in Halifax.
Regeneration officer Michelle Carr, said: “We are looking at an exhibition space to bring young people into the centre and would like primary school children from across Oldham to get involved.”
Council bosses are also looking to work with local and regional high tech companies, including Chadderton Technology Park, as part of the £20m development, which will be the only facility of its kind in the country.
