HEALTH professionals will be on hand to provide advice and free checks during Oldham's annual Health Awareness Day this weekend.
Oldham residents are being encouraged to visit Oldham Library and Lifelong Learning Centre, Greaves Street, on Saturday for the free event.
Volunteers and health professionals from various organisations will be providing health checks, including blood pressure, eye and weight management tests, as well as advice on dental hygiene, healthy eating, fitness, medication and services available in Oldham.
A range of complementary therapists will also be offering advice on a variety of treatments, including homoeopathy, yoga, Reiki and massage, with several workshops and taster sessions also available.
Stalls providing information on stroke, diabetes, heart problems and other health-related topics will also be open during the day, which runs from 10am to 3.30pm.
The free drop-in event has been organised jointly by Sathya Sai International Organisation (UK), Oldham Council, Positive Steps and NHS Oldham Clinical Commissioning Group.
Coordinator Bharat Sisodia said: "Our volunteers spend months planning this event and getting agencies to participate.
"Every year we pick up huge numbers of people who have health problems which they were not aware of and refer them to appropriate agencies.
"The feedback we get from those who attend is extremely encouraging.
"Visitors feel comfortable, happy and learn a lot about healthy lifestyle, preventing serious illnesses in future."
