Cable fault triggers power cut in Royton

MORE than 100 homes and businesses were affected by a power cut in Royton.
Engineers were called to investigate an underground cable fault in the OL2 post code area on Friday.
Electricity North West said that engineers attended Campania Street just after 2.30pm to restore power to the 114 affected properties.
One resident took to social media and wrote: "The electricity has gone off in my area.
"Why is the power going out in Oldham?!"
DW Fitness Clubs closed their Oldham club for several hours due to a power cut affecting their OL2 5HX post code area.
They said in a Tweet: "Our Oldham club is currently closed due to recurring power cuts in the area."
There were 13 separate faults identified across Oldham between the post code areas OL2 to OL9 in the early afternoon.
Resident Wayne Roberts said on social media: "The power has gone out multiple times in OL9."
Power has now been restored to all of the affected areas.
