FIREFIGHTERS are warning residents to take precautions when using candles at home after tealights melted a woman's toilet last night.
Crews were called to a flat on the ninth floor of Summervale House, Manchester Road, at 7.15pm.
As the toilet had melted, some water had seeped into into the flat below and the fire services called First Choice Homes Oldham to assess the damage.
An Oldham Fire spokesman said: "It could have been a more serious fire. Always make sure that when using candles and tea lights, they are in their protective holders.
