A GANG of youths in Glodwick hurled stones at firefighters on Saturday night.
The crew from Oldham were called out to Pitt Street shortly before 9pm to reports that a bonfire had got out of control.
On arrival they were satisfied that it was actually in control.
But the crew were then pelted with stones by around 60 youths. Police then arrived a short while later.
A spokesperson from the Oldham station said: "It was reported to us that a bonfire was out of control, close to a property.
"On arrival we were happy to leave the bonfire alone. But we had to leave because of what was going on. We were attacked with some stones.
"The police turned up at the end."
