Girl injured by collision

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Heywood that left a 12-year-old girl in critical condition in hospital.
At 1pm on Saturday, the girl and her friend were crossing Manchester Road, near to the junction with Rochdale Lane, when the girl was struck by a Land Rover Discovery travelling south.
She was taken to hospital where she is being treated for a serious head injury and remains in a critical condition.
