SHAW was full of festive cheer for the Wren's Nest Christmas lights switch-on.
Some 180 parents and children braved the cold weather as they created lanterns during the afternoon at Dunwood Park, Shaw before they paraded towards Wren's nest in the evening.
Once there they witnessed the switch-on and also enjoyed a spectacular firework display as the evening came to a close.
Shaw Parish Councillor Angie Farrell, led the procession from Dunwood Park and Father Christmas was also on hand to hand out sweets and treats.
She said: "It went very well indeed; 180 people attended and they enjoyed it I think. We have had nothing but good feedback.
"The feeling was very good and the fireworks were brilliant.
"It is that time of year that you want to celebrate as well. All in all it was really well organised and it was a magnificent evening."
Councillor Farrell also thanked everyone that helped organise the event and also the local businesses - which included Tesco, Shaw Pound Buster, Shaw Discounts Store and more - who donated items such as sweets and glow sticks to make the evening that little more special.
She said: "I would like to thank my fellow councillors and the volunteers. Without them it would not have been the success that it was."
