A BRICK was thrown at a fire engine in Oldham as crews arrived on scene to tackle a fire.
Oldham's second engine had just arrived in Pitt Street, near Glodwick Road, after being called out to a small fire. But the pump was targeted by a thug who hurled a brick at the emergency services.
Watch commander Phil Courtnell said: "A youth threw a brick and damaged the fire engine.
"It could have been more serious if it was closer to the window. He could have hit a firefighter."
Crew members were in the vehicle at the time of the incident at 7.30pm on Saturday. The police have been informed and crews will be checking CCTV to find evidence.
