MASKED men smashed their way into a shop in Greenfield and attempted to steal a cash machine.
Police were called to reports of a robbery at a convenience store in Chew Valley Road, shortly before 3am on Tuesday.
On arrival, officers discovered a window had been smashed and an internal cash machine had been damaged.
It is believed they attempted to drag the cash machine out with a rope.
A stolen white Ford Transit van was left at the scene as four men wearing balaclavas fled in what is believed to be a blue VW Golf.
