M60 bridge plunge fear

COMMUTERS faced delays as the M60 was closed following reports of a man on the edge of a bridge above it yesterday.
Police were called to the railway bridge on Hollinwood Avenue, above the M60, at 5.25pm when Metrolink staff reported concerns about a man standing on the edge of the bridge.
The motorway was subsequently closed when police attended and a negotiating team was called to talk the man down.
However, as plans were put in place to make a diversion route for traffic, the man left the bridge under his own steam and was secure in an ambulance at 6.15pm.
The negotiating team was cancelled and the man is now in the care of the ambulance service.
