A MAN was taken to hospital by air ambulance after a serious collision in Shaw yesterday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Buckstones Road where a car had collided with a wall on the bend just up from the Black Ladd Pub.
The man and woman who were in the car at the time of the incident have both sustained serious injuries.
Oldham fire service attended the scene and used hydraulic equipment to cut the roof from the grey Nissan Micra to release the casualties.
A police spokeswoman said: "The man was still in hospital into last night, awaiting results from tests. It was a serious accident and the woman also has serious injuries."
Greater Manchester Police closed off Buckstones Road just before 2.30pm and shut off Grains Road at the junction with Hannerton Road.
