A GREAT-great-grandmother received a fond farewell as she was given a guard of honour at her funeral yesterday.
As the Chronicle reported earlier this week, Susan Jones, 93, from Failsworth, who died on January 29, worked at Ivy Mill during the Second World War where she helped construct parts for the Lancaster Bombers.
Smiling
Mourners turned out in force at Oldham Crematorium, Hollinwood, where they dressed in wartime attire.
Susan married her husband Albert, who died more than 30 years ago, and had Glenise and David. She was a member of The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Royal Navy Association and appeared in a TV documentary about Lancaster Bombers starring Ewan McGregor.
Glenise described Susan as a always smiling person with a great sense of humour who will be dearly missed.
