20mph? That's all a bit pointless...

ARE these Oldham's most pointless road signs? Chronicle photographer Anthony Miller spotted the 20mph speed limit signs at the entrance to a dead end street off Hollins Road.
The unnamed road is barely over 20 metres long and provides access to two gated alleyways, meaning cars would struggle to reach high speeds.
A Oldham Council spokesperson confirmed that the signs had been erected when the road could be used as a "cut through" to other streets in the area with cars driving through the alleyways.
"The signs served to remind road users of the reduced speed limits in the area," they continued. "Since the alleyways have been gated this is no longer an issue and the signs are now redundant.
"We will be arranging for them to be removed as soon as possible."
