Council: Damage to owl column 'due to works'

HOLE . . . A hole appeared in the owl column in Parliament Square caused by construction work in the area
THE owl column suffered damage while construction work was carried out around the new Odeon Cinema.
A large hole appeared near the base of the column which looked as if it could have been caused by vandalism, however Oldham Council confirmed the damage was done during the construction work in the vicinity.
A council spokesman added the damage will be repaired as soon as possible.
