A TRIO of quick-thinking pupils have been praised for coming to the aid of woman who had a nasty fall.
Year 8 Oldham Academy North students Heather Hayes, Bethan Jones (both 12) and Olivia Newcombe (13) stemmed the bleeding from a wound, kept the woman warm and calm, and called an ambulance.
They have now received a letter from the woman thanking them for their help after the incident in Royton Park last month.
The letter, which was sent to the school, said: "I wish to thank the young ladies who helped me when I had a nasty fall in the park. They called an ambulance and stayed with me until it came. One particular girl put her first aid training to good use and stopped the bleeding. She was also aware of the risk of shock and talked to me and reassured me.
"I am sure you are proud of all your student if this is an example of their kindness and sense of responsibility.Thank you all."
Every pupil at the Oldham Academy North, Royton learns basic first-aid at some point during their time at the school.
Noor Islam, the school's first-aid trainer, said: "It is delightful to see the skills our students have learnt in school being put to good use.
"I am extremely proud of Heather, Bethan and Olivia."
