AN appeal for witnesses has been launched after a 91-year-old woman was robbed on her way home from church in Oldham.
At 12.30pm on Sunday, February 26, police were called to Hollins Road after reports that a woman had been robbed.
The woman was walking home after church when she was approached by a man and woman who asked for directions.
After distracting her, the couple forced the ring she was wearing off her finger before stealing three necklaces from around her neck.
The pair ran off with the stolen jewellery and were chased by two men before getting in a car and driving off.
PC Heather Grady, of GMP's Oldham division, said: "This woman was robbed in broad daylight on her way home from church and was left shaken after the ordeal.
"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or saw anything that can help our investigation to get in touch with us."
Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 7292 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
