Mosque opens doors to welcome visitors

DOZENS of visitors enjoyed exhibitions and tours at Greengate Jamia Masjid Mosque as part of a free open day.
Residents were invited to a special event, in association with the Muslim Council of Britain's "Visit My Mosque Day", at the Greengate Street Mosque on Sunday.
Navaid Afzal, Greengate Jamia Mosque Secretary, said: "We are very happy our event was a great success.
Impressed
"We had 60 people that attended who all enjoyed our exhibition, tours, presentation and, free refreshments.
"They all were very impressed by our organised and structured day.
"There was a lot of friendly discussions and questions. Visitors said they were very intrigued by the experience."
He added that they have also had requests for another open day to be arranged in the future.
One visitor said: "I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Islam."
Another added: "It was good to be able to discuss such an important topic with different views."
