A DRIVER was lucky to escape serious injury after his car hit the central reservation on Broadway.
The accident happened at about 5am close to the motorway.
The driver of the Vauxhall Zafira, believed to be in his 50s, was stuck until police and firefighters arrived.
A spokesman from Chadderton Fire Station said: "He was very lucky. The central reservation he hit went all the way through his car to the boot.
"If he had passengers or anyone in the back seat they would have been severely injured. He was incredibly lucky."
