Car blaze damages gas main

A HOUSE was evacuated after a car fire caused damage to a gas main in Shaw in the early hours of Sunday.
Firefighters were called to Harden Hills at around 2am to reports that a car was on fire.
On arrival crews noticed that the fire had caused damage to a gas main pipe and the neighbouring property was evacuated while the blaze was extinguished.
National Grid were called and shut off the gas to ensure the area was safe.
The car, a Fiat, was destroyed in the fire and there was also damage caused to the guttering of the property however no-one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation however it is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
